So, there have been two recent mass shootings and a suicide, or alleged murder depending on who you ask, of a billionaire pedophile in the last ten days. Both of these two (three) events are shocking not due to the exact circumstances of each individual episode but the larger context around them.
So regarding the shootings, the big thing is that they happened hours apart. In El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. At this present stage only the El Paso shooter seemed to have a ideological motive, having a manifesto stating why he deliberately targeted Hispanics. The events happened between 10 hours of each other, with more than 50 people dying as a result.
On the 10th of August, Jeffery Epstein the convicted pedophile and billionaire, was found dead of a supposed suicide in his cell. This happened after he attempted to kill himself on July 23rd, was placed on suicide watch and then later removed from the list under questionable circumstances. Basically the response from people has been “the fuck?”, and no one really knows how this occurred. Personally however I am not leaning towards this being some form of conspiracy murder, unlike certain presidents, due to a lack of evidence any such things has occurred. Could he have been murdered? Sure he knew a lot of things on a number of powerful people, so why not. But no one has presented any evidence supporting this and I am far more predisposed to a combination of apathy, cruelty and incompetence from the prison guards of the high-level prison facility than some form of planned assassination.
I feel like people underestimate how bad prisons in America are. They’re not good.
So, yeah. A lot of blood in the last few weeks.
